Project description

GEOptimize designed and constructed a geothermal system for Prairie Dale Middle School. The project was complicated by the fact that the 65,000 sq. ft. building is located above the drinking water aquifer for a neighboring town. The town was concerned not only about vertical boreholes potentially penetrating the aquifer, but also the risk of leakage from surface water or antifreeze solution contaminating the aquifer if the boreholes were not properly installed. GEOptimize's solution was a horizontal, directionally drilled GHX system constructed on the site.
