Project description

One Penn Plaza’s 6 MW CHP system was the first synchronous electrical interconnection in the Con Edison service territory to rely on customer-side network protection. It removes 25 million kWh per annum from the NYC’s power grid. With a combined efficiency of over 70%, the CHP system supplies 50% of the building’s electricity and 30% of the building’s steam requirements. Since the system has been put in place there has been a 40% reduction in their metered electricity usage and carbon intensity.
